Budgie's heartbeat

Photo: http://www.flickriver.com/photos/paulabirds/popular-interesting/

A budgie's heart beats up to 500 times per minute, while a human heart beats about 75 times per minute.
It's normal for birds to have a rapid heartbeat, because they generally have a fast metabolism and fast reactions. But if your budgie is breathing faster than usual or when you detect other signs of illness, you should take him to the vet.
