Budgie of the Month: Mr. Kooks



James Gurney describes the artistic career of Mr. Kooks, his budgerigar. Gurney shows how the bird appreciates art, how he learned to talk, and how he likes to draw.

The record that Gurney is using is the Hartz Mountain Parakeet Training Record. If you had a pet budgie in the 70's, you might have had one of these records:

  3. Hi Bika, I have decided to have my budgie in the living room, and take him in my room again for letting him out, and for going to bed. (every time moved, moved in cage) And I wonder if this will make him stressed? Please answer! Mia

    1. Hi Mia, I think it's fine to move your budgie into a different room, a change of environment can be stimulating for them. Your budgie will get used to the routine, and he will understand why he is being moved. Good luck and thanks for taking good care of your budgie! Bika.
